I believe it's basically the same as an ISO. CDI formats are usually done with common programs. Now my question is does certain file formats effect performance on Flycast or does there need to be some more tweaking to be made in the core settings to get it to run smoother with functioning FMVs? Also does Flycast run better with a real Dreamcast BIOs? I’m not sure if that’s how it originally ran on real Dreamcast hardware but I also noticed all the FMV cutscenes were near unwatchable, it would skip frames and play very choppy audio. I’m used to how smooth the transitions were on the original PS1 version. The actual gameplay itself is not the issue but I did notice with every single camera angle change the game would pause for just a brief second moving between screens making transitions very jerky. Most of the games I have are GDi files that I converted into CHD files and they ran pretty smooth for the most part save for the occasional hiccup, but when I tried Resident Evil 2 which is in CDi format, I really noticed how badly it ran after an hour of playtime. Today I been experimenting with format files using the Flycast core on an Xbox Series S and I noticed that out of all the games I tried, only 2 games were pretty buggy as they were CDi format.
